Hey everyone!
My friend Hannah is working for an organization called Rising Sun Energy Center. They are a non-profit that provides free energy conservation services to communities in Marin and the East Bay.
She supervises a youth in our California Youth Energy Services program. Basically, they professionally train youth (between the ages of 15 and 24) to do free energy audits on peoples' residences (both rented and owned).
Their energy audits include checking water pressure, checking toilets for leaks, an attic assessment (that could lead to a 70% subsidy on insulation), energy efficiency education, and the installation of free Compact florescent lamps, shower heads, sink aerators, and clothes-lines. They also will switch out your florescent torchiere for your old halogen lamp if you would like.
These services are paid for by our taxes and our local governments. There is no additional charge to the resident. It can save you money and help the environment.
If you are interested in having them audit your house, you can get in touch with her cyesberkeley@risingsunenergy.org or go to their website www.risingsunenergy.org Or you can call her directly to schedule an appointment at (510) 542-3472
She is new to the bay area, she is a friend of mine from L.A. and she is a part of our community. She is an amazing woman!!! I promised her I would help her spread the word to all of you and I have already scheduled an appointment myself as I to believe in what they are doing and do think this is a wonderful resource for those of us in the area.
